How to submit for contests >>
Our contest submission deadline has been extended to September 30th (Thurs)!
Photo submissions for the Character Bento Contest, Origami Contest, and Cosplay Contest should be in either JPEG or PNG format. For the Kendama Contest, your video should be uploaded to an accessible site like YouTube or Vimeo. To be ADA compliant, we would also like to include captions, so please send a brief description of your photo/video with your submission.
Your submitted photos / video links will be published on this website on Oct. 4th (Mon). Contest winners will be announced on Oct. 9th (Sat) on the Japan Week website, and potentially on other BC Japan Week social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok). All of your submissions / entries become the property of Japan Week and may be used in future BC Japan Week promotions.
Prizes will be mailed to all the contest winners after the event. To receive a prize, you need to provide us with a US mailing address. But, anyone can participate from anywhere in the world!

開催日：当ウェブサイトで１０月４日よりビデオ、写真の一般公開をいたします。公開後、コンテストの「トピックタイル」をクリックしていただければ、いつでもご自由にご覧になれます。 各コンテストの優勝者は当ウェブサイト、Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTokで１０月９日に発表させていただきます。なお、投稿された作品は広報活動の一環として、使用させていただく場合がありますので、ご了承くださいますようお願い申し上げます。イベント後に各大会優勝者には賞品が郵送されますが、アメリカの住所がある方に限らさせていただきます。大会参加はどなたでも世界のどこからでもできますので、奮ってご応募ください！

Character Bento (KyaraBen) Contest
キャラ弁大会
Your Character Bento must be in a bento-bako (bento box). Please include captions and let us know what character(s) you’re creating; any message to the eater; and what ingredients you used. A professional registered dietitian will be judging with us, so create a well-balanced nutritious bento! You may submit photos for more than one KyaraBen, so submit all of your own creations! (Please do not submit other people’s copyrighted photos.) Prizes will be mailed to the contest winners after the event. To receive a prize, you need to provide us with a US mailing address. But, anyone can participate from anywhere in the world!

お弁当箱に入っているキャラ弁の写真を簡単な説明と一緒に投稿してください。説明には何のキャラクターなのか、食べる人へのメッセージ、使用材料などを記して提出お願いいたします。審査にはプロの栄養士の方にも参加していただきます。栄養も考えた楽しいキャラ弁をお待ちしています。一人が複数のキャラ弁を投稿していただいてもかまいません。（ただし、他人の著作物を無断で投稿するのはご遠慮ください。）

Submit a link to a video of your kendama tricks uploaded to an accessible site like YouTube or Vimeo. The contest will be judged by Nick Gallagher (former Kendama World Champion) and his twin brother Zack who is also a world-class Kendama expert. They’re both Bellevue College alumni. Prizes will be mailed to the contest winners after the event. To receive a prize, you need to provide us with a US mailing address. But, anyone can participate from anywhere in the world!

ニックとザックが初級から上級のけん玉の技を２０２０年ジャパンウィークのビデオで紹介していますので、ご参考までにご覧ください。
Put on your favorite cosplay costume and submit at least two photos (with different angles – e.g. from the front and back) of your favorite action pose. If your costume obscures your face, please provide additional photo(s) that ‘prove’ you are the person wearing /submitting this costume. Please do not submit other people’s work. Please keep your cosplay costumes/photos appropriate for a family-oriented event. Your costume should not expose more of the body than a regular (non-thong) swimsuit. Hate speech or symbols, no matter how character-accurate, will automatically disqualify a submission. The contest will be judged by Sakura-Con board members and prizes will be provided by the organizers of Sakura-Con! Prizes will be mailed to the contest winners after the event. To receive a prize, you need to provide us with a US mailing address. But, anyone can participate from anywhere in the world!

お気に入りのコスプレ衣装を着た写真２枚（前と後ろ姿）を募集します。顔が見えない衣装の場合は、本人の顔も見える画像をもう一枚お送りください。子供にふさわしくないような画像、不快感を与えるような画像や他人の著作物を無断で投稿するのはご遠慮願います。コスチュームは通常の水着(Tバックでない)よりも体が露出しないようにしてください。極端に肌の露出が高い衣装は禁止します。ヘイトスピーチやシンボルマークの使用はキャラクターの正確さに関わらず即参加資格を失効させていただきます。審査はSakura-Con委員会が担当し、数名の優勝者への賞品もSakura-Conから提供されますので、奮ってご応募ください！

There will be three age group categories (Age as of Oct. 4, 2021):
Children’s division (Age 12 & under)
Teen’s division (Age 13-19)
Adult division (20 years old and up)
- You may use scissors
- You may not use glue or any adhesive tape
- You may use any number, sizes or shapes of paper
- Entries must include:
Name of Model
Name of Designer (if unknown, write “unknown”)
Name of Folder
Members from PAPER (Puget Area Paperfolding Enthusiasts Roundtable) will be the judges for this contest. Prizes will be mailed to the contest winners after the event. To receive a prize, you need to provide us with a US mailing address. But, anyone can participate from anywhere in the world!

日本トリビアクイズ大会
The Bellevue College Japanese Culture Exchange Club will be presenting Japan-related trivia questions on Kahoot, live on Zoom. Get your cell phones out and participate with people from various locations! Learn more about Japan by participating. There will be some questions even challenging for native Japanese! Sign up below so we can send you a Zoom link to participate. Prizes will be mailed to the contest winners after the event. To receive a prize, you need to provide us with a US mailing address. But, anyone can participate from anywhere in the world!
