Our Mission is to expose students and the community to multiple facets of Japanese culture and to nurture and promote the cultural arts of Japan. We do this by:
- Exposing students to different aspects of Japanese culture – not just what is seen in movies, TV, and social media.
- Building improved personal and community relationships through a better understanding of Japan’s rich culture.
- Offering a meeting place for the community at large to learn about, observe, and participate in Japan-related educational and cultural activities.
- Featuring local artists and talent.
- Participation in and a wider appreciation of the history, arts, and crafts of Japan.
- Access to a forum for the continuation and practice of Japanese art forms performed by traditional artists and artisans.
- Providing a “Japanese Style” community event for the benefit of students, staff, and community members.
What our students will gain from this project:
- Participation in and a wider appreciation of the history, arts, and crafts of Japan.
- Access to a forum for the continuation and practice of Japanese art forms performed by traditional artists and artisans.
- A “Japanese Style” community event for the benefit of students, staff, and community members. We work to ensure that Japan Week @ Bellevue College will continue to be a valuable cultural event and that the sharing of Japanese history, art, music, and food continues at BC.
