No Valid Parking Permit Displayed (Sonnet XXV)

by Albert Meursault

Our Dear Appellant (whereabouts unknown),
Decisions have been reached. That is to say
The Bellevue College Traffic Citation
Review Committee gave chase to cheater,
have set a goal, pursued a dogged course
and we are pleased to announce that we have
so reached an impartial, dispassionate
act of two loud slaps to your pale round cheeks

The Bellevue College Traffic Citation
Review Committee, chambered like a heart,
Comprised of carbon, impossible to know.
Not important like a child’s birthday
But, still, important, and infallible.
Your guilt assumed in full—$25 clams.

Today he resides in Seattle, WA where his experiences with the local parking magistrates have caused him to reflect on the gentle indifference of the world. He hopes the  publication of his submission, if accepted, pays exactly $25.00.[/typography]
