Meet Your Senators

ASG Student Senate 2023-2024

Speaker: Rebecca Mbaka

My name is Rebecca Mbaka. I am currently a junior Digital Marketing student. I am from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). This year I will be serving as your ASG Vice-President, previously I served as the ASG President for the 2022-2023 academic year, the Vice President of Scholarships of Phi Theta Kappa, the Black Student Union’s social media manager, and a tutor at the academic success center. My passion is helping others in any way I can, and my objective as a student at Bellevue College is to help improve the student experience and promote positive change.

Vice Speaker: Stephanie Nehema

Hey there! I’m Stephanie Nehema, your friendly ASG Social Responsibility Rep. this year. I am  from the heart of the Democratic Republic of Congo! I speak English, French, Lingala and Swahili. I am all about socializing and community  building. This is my second year at Bellevue College and I am very excited to start this new year being able to work for students to have a memorable experience at BC. With the amazing team this year I am ready to connect with anyone, anywhere. A fun fact about me is that I find baby cries strangely hilarious – it’s my quirky side!

Clerk: Sienna Jarrard

Hi! I’m Sienna Jarrard and I’m a Running Start student from Bellevue. I’m hoping to graduate with an AAS this spring. I’m very excited to be a part of ASG and gather student input to host the best events. A fun fact about me is I have a Harry Potter-esque scar on my forehead. 

Arts and Humanities Senator:
Katrina Gunvaldson

Hi! My name is Katrina and I use they/them pronouns! This is my third year at Bellevue College and I hope to transfer to the University of Washington this fall quarter to study Environmental Public Health. I’m interested in microbiology, chemistry, and food science. I am also co-president of the Sewing and Textile Arts club here at Bellevue College. I hope to work with the senate and board of directors to make Bellevue College an even better place by connecting and listening to students.

Business and Technology Senator:
Zoe Mukaba

I’m Zoé, currently a sophomore student majoring in Software Development here at Bellevue College. As the Student Senator for the Business and Technology Institute, I’m passionate about improving the college experience for all students. I joined ASG to step out of my comfort zone, connect with more people, and make a positive impact on campus. In my free time, you can find me writing, reading, taking a nap, or watching movies. I’m excited to meet you all and ensure that every voice is heard, understood, and valued at Bellevue College!

Cornelie Aloma

Salutations! I am Cornelie Aloma, a committed student from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I’m devoted to creating an atmosphere at the Health Sciences and Wellness Education Institute where everyone has the chance to succeed academically, professionally, and personally. I am committed to supporting programs that advance student achievement, well-being, and diversity because I have a deep awareness of the difficulties that students have when attempting to fulfill their academic objectives. In my role as Student Senator, I’m dedicated to elevating the voices of my fellow students and promoting laws and services that meet their needs and goals.

My name is Marita Bwalya, a 19-old with a passion for baking, dancing, and reading. I love spending my time in the kitchen experimenting new recipes, getting lost in a good book, and dancing to my favorite song. I’m a creative and enthusiastic individual who always brings a positive perspective to everything I do.

Hi guys, I’m Haim Ju, but you can call me Lucy. I’m an international student from South Korea! This is my first year at Bellevue College and I’m planning to transfer next year. I’m also one of board members of ISA, the International Student Association club. While my MBTI is ISFJ, I’m generally extroverted and like talking to new people. I enjoy watching romantic comedies, and one of my favorite ones is My Life with the Walter Boys. I’m a proud Congolese navigating my way through Bellevue College, and it’s my second year here. I’m Currently doing my AAS degree in AI, and I want to pursue my career path either in software or computer science. When I’m not diving into my crazy academic life, I really like to be involved and learn through new experiences, so maybe I’ll see you around in some clubs and events. I like to hang out with my friends, read, watch movies and animes. My mission is making sure every student’s voice gets heard. Let’s team up and make this campus life the best it can be! My name is Emmanuel Ngoie, and I’m a 19-year-old student senator at Bellevue College, originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Currently, I’m studying Artificial Intelligence (AI), driven by my passion for technology and its potential to shape our future. Alongside my studies, I have a strong interest in legislation and politics, believing in the power of policy to create positive change. Representing my fellow students as a senator, I strive to advocate for their rights and opportunities while embracing diversity and fostering inclusivity. In my free time, I enjoy staying informed about current affairs and exploring ways to contribute to a better tomorrow.

I am an international student from Congo, currently pursuing my associate degree in computer science at Bellevue College.  Working as a French and Math tutor at the Academic Success Center has given me the invaluable opportunity to closely interact with people from various backgrounds, and I am so grateful for that. As I embark on my journey in the ASG, I look forward to using my skills to address students’ concerns and contribute to enhancing the overall student experience on campus.
