Dear BC Family,
As we begin the 2021-22 Academic Year, we are excited to start off strong in continuing our
restructuring that will allow us to simplify our operations and better serve the BC community.
Over the summer, we evaluated our position as ASG, and today we are excited to announce a
number of changes that will be rolled out throughout this academic year, plus what we need
from you today (vote yes on our constitution changes via Canvas!)
Currently, we are working on a number of initiatives:
- Transparency initiatives that will clarify available funds and their uses.
- Updating our website to simplify application processes and better organize points-of-service
between ASG & the students. - Updating our governing documents to clarify rules & procedures, as well as ASG’s role in
Bellevue College. - Increasing opportunities for student participation in BC affairs.
- Increasing student representation on the student council (the student council is a separate
council overseen by ASG that represents the students in the BC Governance System).
These updates to our practices will be rolled out throughout this academic year, and we are
confident that all of these changes will improve transparency, simplify our practices & services,
and create opportunities for greater student representation that supports all ages, backgrounds,
and communities here at Bellevue College.
