The flowers of the chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) plant are used for tea. It has been promoted as a calming tea and contains no caffeine. To turn the flowers into tea you need to harvest the flowers, sort through them for bugs, then lay them out flat on an uncovered pan in a dry location. Once they are dried, store them in a sealed container so no moisture can get to them. When they are dry you can put them in tea bags or use them loose leaf.
Plant Profile: Fava Beans (Vicia faba)
The fava bean plant has been part of the human diet for a LONG time, possibly since 6000 BCE! It is useful not only as food but also as a great cover crop in winter. The Garden Club grew a large bed of fava beans this past winter — partly as cover crop and partly for harvest. If you have a good fava bean recipe let us know!
