SUMMARY:
The Age Group Swim Coach is responsible for the developmental training of age group swimmers within the Chinook Aquatic Club. The Age Group Swim Coach is responsible for coaching swimmers to their fullest potential, communication between the coaching team and the board, along with timely communication with parents. Additionally, the Age Group Swim Coach will also work closely with the remainder of the coaches to provide a consistent coaching program for developing swimmers and recruiting new swimmers to further grow the Chinook team. The Age Group Swim Coach with have responsibility for coaching assigned age group, assessing them for movement into progressing team groups, and performing administrative duties, as assigned by the Board and/or Head Coach. The Age Group Swim Coach reports to the Head Coach.

RESPONSIBILITES:
• Provide positive leadership, instruction, and execution of strategy for all levels of swimmers through implementation of a consistent coaching program throughout the entire Chinook program. The program will have emphasis on endurance, stroke technique, and competitive success.
• Develop and conduct Age Group practices in accordance with the Head Coach’s and Chinook’s developmental training strategy.
• Assist with the administration and participation at on-site/off-site swim meets along with other swim team functions throughout the year as needed.
• Provide time and opportunity for communication with parents and swimmers regarding Chinook’s program and the development of personal short- and long-range goals.
• Promote and help maintain positive club morale, safety, and discipline.
• Build and maintain strong relationships as representing Chinook Aquatic Club with other teams, PNS, USA Swimming, and community organizations including, but not exclusive to, local high school and summer swim leagues.
• Demonstrates mature judgment, reliability, availability, and ethical behavior including punctuality, confidentiality, positive and constructive feedback, and the ability to function in a multi-task environment.
• Other duties as necessary to provide for the successful growth of Chinook Aquatic Club and the member swimmers.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Passionate about swimming and working with children.
• Minimum 1 year of swim coaching experience.
• Extensive knowledge of stroke mechanics, strategies, and techniques for competitive swimming gained through previous competitive swimming and/or coaching experience.
• Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and time-management skills.
• Experience with dryland training and nutrition for youth athletes, preferred.
• Working knowledge of TeamUnify and Hytek
• Good standing with USA Swimming (CPR, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, Athlete Protection, Concussion Protocol Training, Background check, Coaches Advantage Training, Foundations of Coaching), USA Swimming Certified Coach, or the ability to obtain the certifications.
• High School Diploma or GED
• Thorough knowledge of all rules and regulations governing facilities, clubs, coaches and swimmers.
Compensation and hours:
• This is a part-time hourly position; $25-35/hour; 10-12 hours a week primarily in the evenings
• Weekend hours required for swim meets as needed
• Coverage may be requested for other coaching staff due to illness or vacations
• Chinook holds practices from September through July
