Part-Time Synagogue Administrator
Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to fill the role of Part-Time Administrator at Kol Ami Synagogue. This position, reporting to the volunteer President of the synagogue, will oversee various administrative functions essential to the smooth operation of our community.
Key Responsibilities:
Communications:
Direct all aspects of internal and external communications in coordination with the President and Rabbi.
Prepare, review, and disseminate weekly synagogue newsletter, mailings, event publicity, special publications, website updates, social media content, advertising, and emails.
Coordinate communications with other community organizations.
Manage the front desk as the primary point of contact for members, visitors, and the community. Ensure timely and courteous responses to inquiries, directing requests as necessary.
Financial and Membership Management:
Assist the Treasurer and Bookkeepers in minimal financial tasks.
Manage membership records, including new registrations, renewals, and member communications.
Event Coordination and Support:
Maintain internal calendars for services, events, life cycle celebrations, room rentals, and custodial staff schedules.
Create and distribute event-related communications, registration forms, and promotional materials. Track event registrations and manage attendee lists.
Coordinate logistics for guest speakers, including communication and accommodation arrangements.
Administrative Support:
Provide administrative assistance to the President, Rabbi, and lay leaders as directed.
Support the synagogue leadership in meeting deadlines and fulfilling administrative needs.
Experience and Skills:
Detail-Oriented and Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks with precision and efficiency.
Interpersonal Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on customer service.
Technology Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel), Quickbooks, social media platforms (Facebook), Google Docs, website management tools (Wix), and graphic design tools (Canva). Familiarity with Shulcloud or other membership management systems is advantageous. Basic troubleshooting skills for IT issues.
Team Player: Collaborative and able to work effectively with clergy, lay leaders, staff, and external vendors.
Jewish Familiarity: Understanding of Jewish traditions, terminology, and community needs. Knowledge of Hebrew is beneficial.
Work Schedule: Part-time position, work from home, 15-20 hours per week. $25 hr. Schedule may include occasional evenings and weekends to support synagogue events and meetings.
