Description
A Recreation Aide provides fundamental support for the program and operational needs of the Recreation Division. Aides provide facility set-up/breakdown, clean-up and wrap-up for programs, and support events and activities at parks and recreation sites, including the Mercer Island Community and Event Center (MICEC). Aides monitor facilities for appropriate use and may track activity participation. Aides interact with facility users and the public and provide back-up support for clerical tasks at the front desk. Aides open/close facilities and will be required to work nights and weekends. Aides perform other duties as assigned in support of programs and events to assist staff in delivering safe and organized activities.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
The Recreation Aide differs from other positions in the Recreation Division in that it is a contributing position working with specific instruction and intermittent supervision to provide general support to the division. The Recreation Facilities Supervisor and Recreation Coordinators supervise the Aides; Recreation Specialists may also provide daily assignments. Work may be performed independently or as a small team and routinely involves performing physical tasks. These positions typically support weekend and evening activities and work flexible schedules.
