All Chi alpha chapters get together to attend the conference and besides it being a religious conference it is also a good opportunity for them to get an opportunity to gain leadership skills and connect with other students. There were questions about how the rest of the community will benefit from this event? Why didn’t they fundraise? They mentioned that they usually help volunteer during events, and games and running the popcorn machine. It was brought to their attention that it is important to make sure that it is accessible to all BC students. 2. Funding Request: El Centro Latino Approved for $16,000 Mover: Carolina Valdez Seconder: Hannah Lee Vote Count: 4-0-0 Few members of the el Centro Latino presented on the funding request. The conference has prominent speakers and various people that are working in the industry. It is a wonderful experience for the students. It empowers students especially those of Hispanic background. One student mentioned that it was inspiring meeting with other people from same background. The conference talked about documented and undocumented students. Attending this conference exposes people to leadership skills, networking opportunity and teamwork. What are ways you do to recruit people for your club? - ts. I will be meeting with the Vice president of administrative services to discuss about the policy for food with meetings and how it will affect students’ organizations.
We are currently working to meet with all the student organizations to discuss the changes we are bringing to the student government to get feedback from them before rolling out the full plan. We will be visiting the Student success building sometime next week We will be inviting the associate vice president of student affairs to come present on initiatives that they are working on related to student success and student life in general.
Vice President: Carolina Valdez Currently working to make sure that we have our first meeting for the student environmental and sustainability fund committee. Will be participating in the interview process for the potential ASG candidates. Will be working on a structure that will be discussed with different stakeholders and constituents.
Events Representative: Hannah Lee During that past couple of week I continued to assist clubs and we recently began to conduct ASG interviews and we have a high possibility of hiring at least two ASG officers. This is a progress that we have made and I hope to improve and learn ways of how we can make more efficient progress. Additionally, I also continued to assist clubs and one of them was the ISA club that hosted an event last Friday (1/31/20) with the purpose of celebrating New Years around the world, which gives the BC community an opportunity to explore and engage in learning different cultures and to enjoy food/have fun! One of the projects that was created was a New Year’s resolution mural board and I was able to collect 200+ statements from the BC community by asking around from my classes, students, teachers, to even resource programs and educational departments. I also researched on the process of how club chartering functions, project planning, and funding request forms in order to better understand and observe from a student’s perspective on how easy it is to fill out the forms, who the forms goes to, and potentially any changes that should be made/ fixing mistakes etc.
