In 2021,&nbsp;<em>The Washington Post<\/em>&nbsp;selected JIJI as \u201cone of the 21 composers\/performers who sound like tomorrow,\u201d and&nbsp;<em>The Kansas City Star<\/em>&nbsp;recently described her as \u201ca graceful and nuanced player.\u201d In recent seasons, JIJI has presented solo recitals at Carnegie Hall\u2019s Weill Recital Hall; Lincoln Center; 92nd Street Y; Caramoor; Green Music Center; and the National Art Gallery, among other distinguished venues. Her performances have been featured on PBS (On Stage at Curtis), NPR\u2019s&nbsp;<em>From the Top<\/em>, WHYY-TV, FOX 4-TV,&nbsp;<em>Munchies<\/em>&nbsp;(the Vice Channel),&nbsp;<em>The Not So Late Show<\/em>&nbsp;(Channel 6, Kansas), and Hong Kong broadcast station RTHK\u2019s&nbsp;<em>The Works<\/em>. In 2016, she became the first guitarist in 30 years to secure first prize in the Concert Artists Guild Competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Dimmar \u00d6ldur R\u00edsa - Gulli Bjornsson (Performed by JIJI)\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lW1AU5TgkXo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2023-2024, JIJI gives the world premiere of Steven Mackey&#8217;s Concerto for Electric Guitar with Robert Spano and the Curtis Orchestra, appears with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the Asheville and Utah Symphonies, is presented in recital by the Austin Classical Guitar Society, Tippet Rise Arts Center,&nbsp;Placitas Artists Series, Celebrity&nbsp;Series of Boston, and La Jolla Music Society, and tours with violinist Danbi Um in Delaware, Houston, Halifax, New Hampshire, Ohio, Wisconsin.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>JIJI has premiered solo and chamber works by a diverse range of musical artists, including Michael Gilbertson, Hilary Purrington, Shelley Washington, Kate Moore, Chris Rountree, Gulli Bjornsson, Molly Joyce, and Paul Lansky. In 2023, JIJI will release&nbsp;<em>UNBOUND<\/em>, the culmination of a multiyear commissioning and recording project. A sought-after and versatile collaborator, JIJI\u2019s recent chamber and ensemble performances include appearances with the New York Philharmonic\u2019s Nightcap Series; Cuarteto Latinoamericano; the Verona Quartet; Wildup; Duo Linu; and soprano Molly Netter, among others. During the 2022\u201323 season, JIJI made her San Francisco Performances debut at Herbst Theater.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>JIJI has also gained a reputation as a sought-after concerto soloist. Recent appearances include performances with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra; the Augusta Symphony; the Duluth Symphony Orchestra; Sinfonietta Riga; New West Symphony; New York Youth Symphony; American Composers Orchestra; Southwest Michigan Symphony; Kansas City Symphony; and more. Equally fluent in classical and contemporary genres, her interpretation of Joaquin Rodrigo\u2019s landmark&nbsp;<em>Concierto de Aranjuez<\/em>&nbsp;has enthralled audiences across the country, and her premieres of new guitar concertos continue to break new ground. She has presented master classes and workshops extensively, including at the Peabody Institute, Eastman School of Music, Yale University, and Dublin\u2019s National Concert Hall, among many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to advocating for the music of her contemporaries, JIJI also performs and records many of her own works, and she continues to develop her distinctive compositional voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During her spare time, JIJI enjoys cooking and creating weird sounds on Ableton.
