The Bellevue College Guitar Program proudly presents Alvaro Pierri, an internationally renowned figure in the guitar world. Alvaro Pierri has garnered widespread acclaim for “his masterfully thought-out interpretations, breathtaking phrasing, overwhelming technique”, and “the almost inexhaustible spectrum of timbres he elicits from the guitar.” Celebrated by audiences and critics alike, Pierri frequently performs in major concert halls across Europe, North and South America, as well as in India, Japan, Korea, and China. In addition to his performance career, Pierri is a respected educator, with many of his students winning prizes at prestigious international guitar competitions and embarking on successful concert careers. He has held teaching positions at institutions such as the University of Santa Maria in Brazil, and McGill University in Canada. In 2002 he was appointed full professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
