Judicaël Perroy

Judicaël Perroy is one of the leading classical guitarists and pedagogues of his generation. His international career was launched in 1997 when he won First Prize at the prestigious Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition, leading to an extensive tour of more than sixty concerts and masterclasses throughout the United States and Canada.

Since then, Perroy has performed in major concert halls and festivals around the world, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, National Concert Hall in Taipei, and Teatro de la República in Mexico. Known for his virtuosity, refined musicianship, and wide-ranging repertoire, he has established an international career as both a performer and teacher.

Born in Paris in 1973, Perroy began studying guitar at the age of seven. He studied with Délia Estrada and Raymond Gratien at the École Nationale d’Aulnay-sous-Bois before continuing his musical development with Roberto Aussel and Daniel Lavialle. In 1994, he received the Licence de Concert from the École Normale de Musique de Paris, where he studied with Alberto Ponce, and in 1996 he was awarded First Prize from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP).

Perroy’s discography includes approximately ten albums. His recordings include acclaimed releases devoted to Johann Sebastian Bach and Manuel María Ponce for Naxos, as well as recordings for Quantum, Bayard Musique, Contrastes, and GHA Records. His recent GHA album, June, explores music by Eastern European composers, including works associated with Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Tansman, Atanas Ourkouzounov, and Dušan Bogdanović.

Equally renowned as a teacher, Perroy is regularly invited to give masterclasses at leading conservatories, universities, and music festivals throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas. His students have earned top prizes at major international guitar competitions, including the Guitar Foundation of America competition.

From 2017 to 2020, Perroy served on the faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, succeeding guitarist and composer Sérgio Assad. In 2020, he joined the Haute École de Musique de Genève, succeeding Dušan Bogdanović. In September 2025, Perroy returned to his alma mater, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, as Professor of Guitar, marking the latest chapter in his distinguished career as an internationally recognized performer and educator.
