\nFun fact about Rick:<\/strong> He once built his own bike from scratch!
\nWhy is he involved in Garden Club:<\/strong> Rick believes that people should have\u00a0food security and understand\u00a0how to grow their own edible plants.\u00a0 He aims to teach students about food sovereignty\u00a0and plant diversity. The\u00a0genetic and species diversity of edible plants\u00a0that our ancestors worked hard to cultivate\u00a0has become bottle-necked in recent\u00a0history and he hopes to show students the wide\u00a0variety of edible, open-pollinated plants that can be grown in the Pacific Northwest and the importance of\u00a0a diverse source of\u00a0food to nourish us.<\/p>\n
