Job Summary:
\nThe on-call substitute teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction and classroom continuity in the absence of regular faculty. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment. The position works across various grade levels and subjects while modeling respect, professionalism, and cultural competency in all interactions.<\/p>\n
Specific Responsibilities:
\n\u2022\tDelivers lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular teacher.
\n\u2022\tProvides instruction and support to students in various grade levels and subjects.
\n\u2022\tAssumes the regular teacher\u2019s daily duties such as supervising students during recess, lunch, or dismissal to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the school day.
\n\u2022\tMaintains a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
\n\u2022\tAdapts teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of students.
\n\u2022\tMonitors student behavior and enforces classroom rules and policies.
\n\u2022\tCollaborates with other teachers and staff members to ensure continuity of instruction.
\n\u2022\tUpholds and models the mission, values, and strategic priorities of STS.
\n\u2022\tDemonstrates respect for diverse perspectives and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
\n\u2022\tCommunicates effectively and professionally with students, families, and colleagues.
\n\u2022\tMaintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information with discretion.
\n\u2022\tAdheres to school policies and procedures and performs other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n
Requirements and Qualifications:
\n\u2022\tBachelor\u2019s degree in education or a related field; master\u2019s degree or teaching certification preferred.
\n\u2022\t1+ years of experience teaching preschool, elementary\/lower school, or middle school students.
\n\u2022\tAbility to actively supervise students both indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions.
\n\u2022\tPhysical ability to meet the demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds and engaging in activities such as bending, crouching, or sitting on the ground.
\n\u2022\tReadiness to obtain First Aid and CPR certification and maintain throughout employment.
\n\u2022\tSuccessful completion of required background checks in accordance with school policy and state regulations.
\n\u2022\tDemonstrated cultural competency and ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.
\n\u2022\tStrong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, flexible, and growth-oriented mindset.
\n\u2022\tProficiency with basic technology tools and a willingness to learn school-specific systems.
\n\u2022\tCommitment to the mission, values, and community of STS.<\/p>\n
