Our educational journey is defined by a cognitively engaging program with an emphasis on developing character, leadership, and a passion for learning and achievement. Our highly regarded curriculum prepares students to excel at future endeavors while honoring the school\u2019s long-standing core values.<\/p>\n<p>Job Summary:<br \/>\nThe on-call substitute teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction and classroom continuity in the absence of regular faculty. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment. The position works across various grade levels and subjects while modeling respect, professionalism, and cultural competency in all interactions.<\/p>\n<p>Specific Responsibilities:<br \/>\n\u2022\tDelivers lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular teacher.<br \/>\n\u2022\tProvides instruction and support to students in various grade levels and subjects.<br \/>\n\u2022\tAssumes the regular teacher\u2019s daily duties such as supervising students during recess, lunch, or dismissal to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the school day.<br \/>\n\u2022\tMaintains a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.<br \/>\n\u2022\tAdapts teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of students.<br \/>\n\u2022\tMonitors student behavior and enforces classroom rules and policies.<br \/>\n\u2022\tCollaborates with other teachers and staff members to ensure continuity of instruction.<br \/>\n\u2022\tUpholds and models the mission, values, and strategic priorities of STS.<br \/>\n\u2022\tDemonstrates respect for diverse perspectives and a commitment to equity and inclusion.<br \/>\n\u2022\tCommunicates effectively and professionally with students, families, and colleagues.<br \/>\n\u2022\tMaintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information with discretion.<br \/>\n\u2022\tAdheres to school policies and procedures and performs other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n<p>Requirements and Qualifications:<br \/>\n\u2022\tBachelor\u2019s degree in education or a related field; master\u2019s degree or teaching certification preferred.<br \/>\n\u2022\t1+ years of experience teaching preschool, elementary\/lower school, or middle school students.<br \/>\n\u2022\tAbility to actively supervise students both indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions.<br \/>\n\u2022\tPhysical ability to meet the demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds and engaging in activities such as bending, crouching, or sitting on the ground.<br \/>\n\u2022\tReadiness to obtain First Aid and CPR certification and maintain throughout employment.<br \/>\n\u2022\tSuccessful completion of required background checks in accordance with school policy and state regulations.<br \/>\n\u2022\tDemonstrated cultural competency and ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.<br \/>\n\u2022\tStrong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, flexible, and growth-oriented mindset.<br \/>\n\u2022\tProficiency with basic technology tools and a willingness to learn school-specific systems.<br \/>\n\u2022\tCommitment to the mission, values, and community of STS.<\/p>\n<p>This description is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this position.
