This role supports the athletic and personal development of student-athletes by promoting teamwork, skill-building, and sportsmanship in a positive and inclusive environment. The 2nd-3rd Grade Basketball Assistant Coach collaborates closely with the head coach to align with school values and ensure a safe, engaging experience for all participants.<\/p>\n<p>Reports To: Director of Athletics and After-School Programs<br \/>\nFLSA Status: Seasonal, Exempt<br \/>\nPay: $250 stipend <br \/>\nSeason: 10\/27\/25 \u2013 12\/8\/25<br \/>\nPractices: Mon 3:30-4:30 p.m.<br \/>\nGames: No games<\/p>\n<p>Specific Responsibilities:<br \/>\n\u2022\tSupports the head coach with all basketball practices for second and third grade.<br \/>\n\u2022\tPromotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and individual skill development.<br \/>\n\u2022\tAssists with teaching age-appropriate basketball fundamentals, techniques, and strategies.<br \/>\n\u2022\tPartners with the head coach to support program goals and team culture.<br \/>\n\u2022\tEnsures the safety, supervision, and well-being of all student-athletes.<br \/>\n\u2022\tSupports player growth aligned with program expectations and core competencies.<br \/>\n\u2022\tCommunicates clearly with players, families, and the school community about schedules, expectations, and team progress <br \/>\n\u2022\tHelps with equipment, as well as court set up and cleanup for practices.<br \/>\n\u2022\tActively engages in the life of the school and contributes to community-wide events and programs.<br \/>\n\u2022\tUpholds and models the mission, values, and strategic priorities of STS.<br \/>\n\u2022\tDemonstrates respect for diverse perspectives and a commitment to equity and inclusion.<br \/>\n\u2022\tMaintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information with discretion.<br \/>\n\u2022\tAdheres to school policies and procedures and performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and After-School Programs.<\/p>\n<p>Requirements and Qualifications:<br \/>\n\u2022\tHigh school diploma or equivalent; coursework in education, coaching, or a related field preferred.<br \/>\n\u2022\t1+ years of experience coaching basketball, preferably with second and third grade\u2013age students.<br \/>\n\u2022\tKnowledge of youth athletic development, including age-appropriate skill building and sportsmanship.<br \/>\n\u2022\tDemonstrated ability to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive team environment.<br \/>\n\u2022\tAbility to actively supervise student-athletes both indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions.<br \/>\n\u2022\tPhysical ability to meet the demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds and engaging in activities such as bending, crouching, or sitting on the ground.<br \/>\n\u2022\tReadiness to obtain First Aid and CPR certification, and maintain throughout employment<br \/>\n\u2022\tSuccessful completion of required background checks in accordance with school policy and state regulations.<br \/>\n\u2022\tDemonstrated cultural competency and ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.<br \/>\n\u2022\tStrong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, flexible, and growth-oriented mindset.<br \/>\n\u2022\tProficiency with basic technology tools and a willingness to learn school-specific systems.<br \/>\n\u2022\tCommitment to the mission, values, and community of STS.<\/p>\n<p>This description is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this position.
