The wood shines through itself
\nNewly lacquered and awaiting its first blemish
\nA circle with corners
\nJagged with the bursts of a thousand stars
\nIt is the window into wonder we each dream of<\/p>\n
Outside the woodlands woo and caw
\nOur wonderland of forts and river crossings
\nHidden battlefield of children\u2019s dreams
\nWhen the sun returns bringing the warmth
\nThe starry oculus distant from our make believe<\/p>\n
My sister knew the spirits here
\nThe roly-polys and the daffodils
\nThe moss and sap filled breeze
\nThe newborn everythings hidden so close
\nKnee stains in forgotten overalls<\/p>\n
Playing those woods like any other card board box
\nAnything we imagined it to be
\nThrough the window now
\nLate and dark the lightbugs are matting
\nMy mind fills the darkness with bewilderment<\/p>\n
The light and dark turned inside out
\nInto me and out of assertiveness
\nAnything is possible inside my constellation
\nThe currents carry it all towards something called forward
\nForward wonders what I am, daring to chase it<\/p>\n
Deep into my perception the window looks
\nIt frames a world of words and thought
\nPlay things for the material world to conquer
\nUnlearning the difference between thought and action
\nThe wooded forest of my mind lets itself be logged<\/p>\n
No hiding places for the innocent inside
\nInner children abuse it like a sand box
\nCreations awaiting scripted destruction
\nExistence is so grainy in the depths
\nMuddy foundations for hopes and dreams<\/p>\n
No tunnel or end inside my outsideness
\nA rainbowed kaleidoscopic singularity of being
\nThe progeny of matter and observation
\nThe light in the distance is closer than my thoughts
\nSuperimposed patchwork of beliefs playing through<\/p>\n
My eyelids tire and almond windows close
\nThe world still sees me anyway
\nInto hiding as I slumber away
\nTrying to make it all stay
