On the edge of a cliff, her head in a cloud<\/span><\/p>\n

Weighin\u2019 her life\u2019s value, should she call it quits?<\/span><\/p>\n

The jeering voice of her mother<\/span><\/p>\n

Echos \u2018gainst her skull, loud,<\/span><\/p>\n

Needlin\u2019 her \u201cGo-head, loser, and jump!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSix a one, half dozen of a-nother,<\/span><\/p>\n

You ain\u2019t done nothing worth hangin\u2019 \u2018round for.<\/span><\/p>\n

Your life\u2019s a mess, your home\u2019s a dump.<\/span><\/p>\n

You mize-well shut the door.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But, \u2018stead of stepping she sits.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The words whir round, each replacing another,<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cHalf of one, six dozen of the other!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She calls out with a bitter laugh.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cI can become the six, Mama,<\/span><\/p>\n

But you are stuck as the half.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sorry for you, sad as you are,<\/span><\/p>\n

Negative, caustic, harsh as can be,<\/span><\/p>\n

Your life is a nightmare, your heart is a scar,<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet, out of al that, I want to be proud of me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She rises and turns, then turns once more,<\/span><\/p>\n

And casts just her cares out to sea.<\/span><\/p>\n
