To be a leader in the preservation of the honeybee and to promote adoption of a lifestyle and culture that supports their well-being.
Mission
To educate the students, faculty, and staff of Bellevue College about the importance of the honeybee. To train individuals in the art of beekeeping through hands on experience and seminars. To pursue and support scientific research which aids in the preservation of the honeybee. To encourage lifestyle changes conducive to the preservation of the honeybee and engagement in honeybee culture.
Goals
> Create a strong club and eventually culture that will stand the test of time
> Encourage engagement from people of all demographics, learning styles and interest. groups in the club through inclusive and diverse teaching methods (i.e. seminars, hands-on work, field trips, specialized projects, etc.), projects and events.
> Educate Bellevue College students, faculty, and staff about the importance of the honeybee.
> Train Bellevue College Students, faculty, and staff in the art of beekeeping and provide a place to gain experience.
> Provide Bellevue College Students, faculty, and staff with the experience, knowledge and confidence needed to start their own hives.
> Promote projects that strengthen or create a habitat for native and honeybee pollinators on campus.
> Promote a lifestyle and culture that is conducive and supporting to the well-being of the honeybee and other pollinators.
> Perform community outreach.
> Conduct, acquire data and/or support scientific research on Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) and other issues that concern the well-being of the honeybee.
> Demonstrate the fun and reward that comes with keeping honeybees.
