While the Bellevue College Beekeeping Society is a relatively new club, we have many goals for promoting pollinator education in the coming years.

First and foremost, we are dedicated to teaching students, faculty, and staff, the art and science of beekeeping in the hopes that those participating will have the skills to set up hives of their own in the future to help combat Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD).

We also are working to weave honey bees and other pollinators into the curriculum of existing classes on campus to raise awareness and hope to eventually offer a credited beekeeping course at Bellevue College.

To help combat CCD and simply to understand honey bees better, we hope to collaborate with other clubs, faculty, and courses on campus to conduct scientific research on honey bees.

We also want to learn from the experts by offering a speaker series and beekeeping skill building seminars put on by guest lecturers.

Finally, we want to make Bellevue College an oasis for pollinators, both native and imported, by planting specific plants that cater to pollinators.

Oh, and did we mention the honey?
