This is sociable, interactive environment where we practice French in an organic fashion. No textbooks or worksheets. Just learning a language the way you learned your first one. Vision
La Frontière Française’s vision is to develop one’s affinity toward French culture. If that is through learning the language or just learning the culture La Frontière Française is here for you.
Mission
The purpose of La Frontière Française is to help students practice their speaking abilities. Several of the members are native speakers who want to help others learn their language as they have English. Through casual conversation students have the opportunity to practice speaking without pressure. Students are free to display their appreciation for the French culture to the extent they feel comfortable. We also interact as a group through games with a French twist. This natural exposure to the language helps cement understanding like we did our first language. Also, this natural exposure makes understanding a lot easier.
This is a safe, organic environment. There is no pressure to be correct and no reason to be nervous about speaking. We are all here to practice and that is a clear understanding amongst everyone. If you are a proficient speaker, then by all means show us what you got. While if you are just a beginner we will support you on your ascent to become a proficient speaker. No one is the best at a language. Some just have more experience than others. Experience is what develops excellent speakers.
Goals
Through natural learning and organic interaction the customs and language of France will become habitual to non-natives. We will play English games but with a French twist. This way everyone has the ability to participate while at the same time be exposed to French.
Through casual, no pressure conversation, the natural nervousness of speaking a new language is taken away. Each member would know that everyone in La Frontière Française is there for the same reason they are, to learn. There is no teacher grading anyone and there is no point deduction for pronouncing or saying the incorrect word. The only pressure placed on members is the pressure they place on themselves to break out of their area of comfort and to step into a realm of new experiences.
