The verb Aller and Le Futur Proche
The verb aller (to go) can be used in a sentence to express one is going to a place. Note! The verb aller is irregular. Only the nous and vous forms resemble the infinitive.
- Je vais au cinéma ce soir.
- Il va au marché maintenant?
- Tu vas chez toi?
- Vous allez l’école aujourd’hui?
But aller can also be used with another verb to tell what is going to happen. This construction is called le futur proche (the immediate future). Conjugate aller in the present tense and place the other verb’s infinitive form directly after it.
- Nous allons déjeuner sur la terrasse.
- Marc et Julie vont explorer le centre-ville.
- Je vais partager la pizza avec ma copine.
- Elles vont retrouver Frank à la boîte de nuit.
